I'm just an ordinary person facing dementia in my family. I was raised with the moral value that we should always be there for others. I am grateful for that teaching; although, I never realized how dementia tests every fiber in minds and bodies- loved ones and caregivers. I am fortunate that my parents gave me a reservoir of love- for now I am able to give back to my Mom presently and honor my Dad in memory.
I'm not alone on this journey...
I DEDICATE THIS SITE TO ALL WHO ARE SUFFERING FROM MEMORY LOSS...
And to my husband who always listens, dries my tears, and coaches me to breathe on the very worst days. He sustains and nurtures me.
To my children, children-in-law, grandchildren. They care. They create the generational balance in my life.
To my dear sister, sister-in-law, aunts, nieces, nephews....
To our private caregivers- our band of angels.
To my wonderful friends who always lend an ear...
And to the competent and loving staff at my Mom's health care facility.
Deepest thank you to Mom for teaching me that living in the moment is all we have, and to Dad for teaching me to accept what life presents to us.
Hopefully, you have found in these pages, an idea that will help you and yours on your journey. My heart goes out to you.
Peace...
